A St. Nicholas Lament
(1966)

A ST. NICHOLAS LAMENT (or One Way of Looking at Secondary Schools Reorganization)

By J. LOWE, M.VI Arts

On a lofty Northwood hill's top
Stands this edifice of culture,
Dedicated to Saint Nicholas -
Father of the yule, Saint Nicholas.
Clear beneath it lies Saint Mary's -
Refuge of the fair, Saint Mary's -
Guarded high, by wire surrounded,
Fir-tree forests thickly planted.
On the hillside thickly planted,
Lest our roaming eyes should wander,
Wander on the maids' encampment.

Ne'er these two shall come together,
Ne'er will go the segregation.
Till we have a brand new system.
Undergo a change extensive -
Till, alas! we're Comprehensive.
