The World Outside (1966)

THE WORLD OUTSIDE

Original Work by H. TAYLOR, 3B

We know very little of the place called space;
The stars are there and the moon with its face.
But the world outside is a very large place,
Like a network made of very fine lace.
While satellite-building goes on apace
Everyone competes in the rocket race.

Soon astronauts will travel to Mars-
In rockets, that is, and not in cars;
Perhaps they'll find things like solid gold bars.
Or bring back cheese in old jam jars.
They might, with luck, find an old Greek vase-
But by then we may be great-grandpas!
