THE ST. NICHOLAS PARENTS' ASSOCIATION – 1971

By Mr. W. H. HAUGH, Chairman

I think all members will agree that we have had a successful year. The new officers and committee were elected at the A.G.M. in October, and a cheese and wine party was held in December.

The traditional Beetle Drive in January was followed in February by a film evening, when films of the school trips were shown.

A new venture in April was a wine and cheese party with dancing. The Kodak Military Band provided the music and it was a memorable evening. They have promised to return next year.

The annual Dinner Dance was again held at the Bellhouse Hotel, and 160 members and guests enjoyed good food, dancing and congenial company. This was a record, and it augurs well for the future.

New parents met at the school in June when the Headmaster kindly allowed me to talk about the Association. I am delighted to report that we enrolled 48 new families. If some of these will take an active part in our activities and assist the longer serving members, then the Association's future is assured.

We were again blessed with a lovely day for the Fair, which with the help of all concerned, was a great success with all the usual activities and a few new ones. The displays, built by the boys, were excellent. At the time of writing the financial result of the Fair is unknown, but the indications are that we did better than last year.

We have already made a number of donations to assist the School with various expenses, and we are hoping to be able to provide new chairs and curtains for the J.C.R. and a public address system for school functions.
